First of all, I want to thank you so much for visiting my website!

My name is Lindsay, and I am the owner, baker, and decorator at Short & Sweet Cakes - my cottage food registered home cakery!  

 

At Short & Sweet Cakes you will find custom cakes, cupcakes, decorated sugar cookies, and other delicious, sweet treats for ANY occasion! I label myself as a perfectionist, so I put a lot of time and love into each cake, and I am all about the details! My cakes, cupcakes, cookies, macarons, other treats, icings and fillings are all homemade. No box mixes here! I want your custom order to be the talk of the party and I want the recipient's eyes to light up when they see what I have made them for their special day - because that's the best part! :)

 

A little bit about me...

I was born and raised in Minnesota, and besides a short 8-month residency in Texas, I have lived in Minnesota my whole life. I have 4 children,1 boy and 3 girls, and like the business name they're all short & sweet (most of the time) ;)

 

I graduated from cosmetology school in 2004, and was a hair stylist up until 2017. In 2012, on a whim, I decided to make my then 2-year-old daughter my first ever fondant covered cake.... and the rest is history! Making cakes became my "side job" for a number of years until I switched paths when moving to Texas. I quit doing hair when we moved to Texas and decided to switch my focus to cake!

 

I was a cake decorator at a well-known bakery in Friendswood, Texas while living there. In fact, the owner competed on Cupcake Wars, which I always thought was really cool! I felt pretty fortunate to have been able to work there! I absolutely loved it and learned SO much!!

 

In 2018, shortly before moving back to Minnesota, I decided to make my cake business "official" and that's when Short & Sweet Cakes was started!

I'm a firm believer in following your gut and your dreams! If there's something out there that you feel is in your heart... do it!! You'll never know unless you try! Even if you're afraid, do it scared! And even if it doesn't work out, at least you tried! There are no failures, just discoveries.
